This year, the city councils of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia will organize the Portuguese round of the F1 Powerboat World Championship on the Douro River for the first time, between 31 July and 2 August.

This race is one of the circuits of UIM’s F1 H2O powerboat World Championship.

After 13 consecutive rounds in Portimão, with the last taking place in 2011, it will be a first time for the Douro River at the 14th Grand Prix of Portugal when it will be transformed into a racecourse with an approximate perimeter of 2,000 metres, between the Edifício da Alfândega and the D. Luis bridge. Eighteen pilots of 14 nationalities will be competing in this race in boats that can reach speeds of close to 240 k.p.h and weighing a little over 500 kilos.

To watch this race, the banks of Porto’s Ribeira area and Gaia will be the perfect place to experience the excitement of what is known as the Formula 1 of boats!
