The city of Porto is one of the ten cities chosen by British newspaper The Guardian in its list of alternative breaks in Europe.

The newspaper describes Porto as being a city with a ‘faded charm and buzzing creative scene’. Rua Miguel Bomarda is described as the centre of Porto’s art district, lined as it is with art galleries, but also highlighting the Fundação Serralves’ Museum of Contemporary Art.

The Guardian further states that the best time to visit Porto is in June, the month in which the São João festivities take place as well as the NOS Primavera Sound music festival.

The List of the Top 10 is composed of cities such as Ghent (Belgium), Lyon (France), Leipzig (Germany), Belgrade (Serbia), Segovia (Spain), Linz (Austria), Rotterdam (The Netherlands), Turin (Italy) and Gothenburg (Sweden).
