The Câmara Municipal (City hall) rests at the top of Avenida dos Aliados and it’s one of the largest local authorities in Portugal. With two wide ramps on either side of the main entrance, access to this modern neoclassical structure is easy (as long as you discount the hill leading to the doors), there is a large clock centred in the building’s 70-meter tower, keeping time over the avenida in a most regal way. One of Porto’s most famous architects, Correia da Silva, designed the Câmara Municipal and its construction got underway in 1920.
