There’s really no need to drive in the centre. Everything is packed in tightly and accessible by foot or public transportation. If you do bring your car into the city, be prepared to deal with buses and trams. There are plenty of national highways to get you into Porto, but you’re liable to get turned around and confused by all of the one-way streets and sinuous tunnels downtown. Street parking is very competitive. You can park your car in several paid parking garages in the city centre, or better yet, leave it at your hotel.
