International rock acts often stop in Porto. The biggest names set up their stages in the Estádio do Dragão (Dragon Stadium), home of the football team F.C. Porto and the Estadio Do Bessa (where Boavista F.C. plays). The Coliseu do Porto, a cultural icon downtown, also hosts some important concerts.
The Super Bock Super Rock Festival gets thumping in Lisbon and Porto in July. International and local artists come to perform, and there’s an ocean of beer on tap. The Noites Ritual Rock turns up the volume in August, when young and hardcore music fans come out of the woodwork to do some head banging at the Pavilhão Rosa Mota in the Jardim do Palácio de Cristal (Crystal Palace Gardens).
Bars, theatres and other venues host various gigs throughout the year, keeping the city’s musical pulse strong.
