This museum was inaugurated on 9th March 1958 and is situated in the north wing of the former Colégio de São Lourenço, which is now the Major Seminary of Porto.

It has a priceless collection for you to see. In the permanent exhibition gallery, religious sculptures dating back to the 13th century up to the present are on display to the public. If you visit this museum you will gain an overall view of how cultural transformation has taken place over time.

The museum also has a section on archaeology, from pre-history to the end of the Roman Empire, and also has wooden and limestone figures from Mediaeval times.

Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm and from 2.30 pm to 5 pm. Closed on Sundays and Public Holidays.
