Jardim Botânico do Porto (Porto Botanical Garden) is linked to the University of Porto and is managed by the Faculty of Science. It was created in 1951 and is comprised of a historical garden, an area with greenhouses with tropical and sub-tropical plants, an area with lakes and a variety of trees.

There is also a very elegant property within the garden, Casa Andresen, the house of a family that has produced important Portuguese writers: Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen and Ruben A.

For decades, Casa Andresen was the headquarters of the Department of Botany of the Faculty of Science, which continued to invest in increasing the species of plants in this garden.

Nowadays, Jardim Botânico do Porto is important for its rare plants, especially exotic plants.
