Praça da Galiza is close to Rua do Campo Alegre and Mercado do Bom Sucesso, both very busy areas.
This square was given its name in 1936 when the chairman of the administrative committee of the Porto City Council at that time, José Alfredo Mendes Magalhães, proposed calling it 'Galiza' as way of commemorating the friendship between two peoples who are friends and brothers (Portugal and Spain).
Take a moment to sit down on one of the benches in this square and admire the life of this city as it passes by in front of you.
