Once upon a time the Rua das Flores was one of Porto’s most important streets, with a line of palatial manor houses for the city’s elite. Rua das Flores is just up the block from the Palácio da Bolsa. It’s a charming lane where you can still find jewellery shops and goldsmiths plying their craft. Wrought-iron balconies jut out over the street. Some of the buildings worth passing by are the Casa dos Maias at number 29 and the Casa dos Sousa e Silva, numbers 79 through 83. Rua das Flores makes a perfect route from Ribeira up into Baixa.
